... so small he could fit into the palm of your hand
Itty Bitty is a wonder of nature! All 2.4 lbs of him. He is perfect and handsome. Yorkie colors black and tan. He is active and inquistive. Itty Bitty Pee Wee was found as a hair ball along a 4 lane stretch of very busy highway near Baltimore, MD.
Why someone stopped for a mess of matted fur, we'll never know. But they did. And found it was alive and there was a dog inside! They had to shave inches of matted hair to find where his head was. I saw the pictures. They found this little 2 pound dog. He had a lot of vetting to be done - a neuter, 17 teeth pulled (he had two full sets), a microchip implanted, his rabies shot, his distemper/Parvo shot, treated for fleas, treated for worms and checked for heartworm.... the whole 9 yards. The shelter called and asked if we could take him. We said yes. I asked for an age estimate - they guessed older - no one had any idea, because he still had his baby teeth. We drove to Shrewsbury, PA on the Mason/Dixon line to pick him up last evening. He has been a delight to have with us. He sleeps nicely in his ex-pen at night. Not a peep. He was up all day as we went to 4 petstores looking for a harness that would fit a 2 pound dog. None did. Not even a cat's harness. But we bought the smallest one and hope to cut it to size.
This is what I can tell you: He is active, not nearly 9 years old. We guess him to be 2 or 3. He loves other dogs - he wants to hump every one he sees. There is no aggression. He wants to play with them so much. My one Yorkie is 18 years old, blind and deaf and just wants to sleep. Itty Bitty wants to hump him so badly that if he can't get close enough, he humps thin air with relish. My other dog is dog aggressive so they have to be strictly separated. But that is very hard on Itty. He dreams of playing and running with my Romey. Romey is not amused.
Itty rides nicely in the car, eats dry kibble happily, drank well today, pooped three times outside. Has not peed in my house but I have not given him the chance. He loves squeak toys to distraction and enjoys a good bully stick.
His humping will probably subside as the testosterone subsides in a few weeks. Let me reiterate: He loves people. He loves dogs. He is social, sweet tempered and a wonderful tiny, perfect Yorkie. And I mean TINY. He looks like a mouse. No hair but, like my last worst hair cut, I whispered to him: "Hair grows. In 6 months we will both look like Lady Gaga."
He is vacationing in Reading, PA with Marilyn. If you are interested in this darling little guy, be prepared to answer a million questions. He will get the home that best suits him - active, quiet, no children, no big dogs but at least one other social dog. We are looking for someone who is home - an 'empty nester' is a wonderful choice. Someone with TIME for the dog. Someone who is active and will take him for walks although he has no idea what a leash is for. Yes, we are particular, but Itty Bitty has lost everything once - his home, his family - even his name - we won't let that happen again.
