Ted E  Bear  is about 2 years old and weighs 15 lbs.

Ted E Bear is an active eager fun loving boy - and a great size for a small dog!  He warms up to people slowly but if you give him the time, it is worth it to become his friend.

Ted E Bear must have a fenced yard, an experienced owner who will go to obedience classes with him, someone with time, who is ACTIVE (hard to find in America), and someone who will work with him on loving men!  Does this describe you and your family?

His housetraining has been great.  Good for Ted E!

Ted E Bear is doing well in his foster home as he gets used to men and boys.  He has gotten used to his foster dad and is learning that men can be kind.  He's still getting used to his human foster brother... but is making progress.  He even went to an event this weekend and did very well greeting men there and allowed them to pet him.  He's learning how great they can be!

He has been neutered and is learning to walk nicely on a leash.  It will be required that his new owner take him to obedience classes so he grows into a perfect gentleman!  This young guy is developing into a classic Yorkie who will love his family.

FUN FACT:  Ted E Bear's Foster Mom says he loves to play with his ball and will run to the top of the stairs, drop the ball down, chase it, and repeat!  How cute!

He is a smart boy who needs an active family, someone home with him to guide and train him. A fenced yard would be a safety feature for him.  He won't be in rescue long - a puppy!  Healthy and ready to romp in the summer sun. Can you keep up?

AN UPDATE FROM TED E BEARS FOSTER MOM:  He is such a sweet boy!  He loves sharing kisses and cuddling by your side.  He is a big ball of energy too.  He loves when the weather is nice and we can go to the dog park.  He is such a social butterfly with the other dogs!

Ted E. Bear is vacationing in Kingston, NY with Erlinda and her family.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
