Learn more about the Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie.
Mac is doing so well. He is just a demanding little boy. Not in a bad way a cute way. Flips your hand til you pet him and if you put hands away he will paw at your arm. He has a sharp little bark. Doesn’t use it much, unless someone comes which is Yorkie through and through. He lets you know when he wants out, wants in, wants a treat, and when he wants to be left alone.
He likes to be on your lap or will sleep right between your feet on the floor. He does still need to be handled with care - he lets you know when he doesn’t like something! He got a bath this week and did really good. He went to the vet but was having none of it. The vet even got on the floor and tried to make friends. He is scheduled for a neuter and nail cut under anesthesia. He has come so far in one week. He needs trimmed and we are working on that a bit at a time.
Now for the good news! Mac is house trained and goes to the door when he wants to go outside, his teeth are pearly white and he walks like a gentleman on his leash. Plus he loves going in the car, curling up on the sofa and sitting on your lap. Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.
