Sully is available for adoption. Sully is the absolute sweetest boy ever and loves to snuggle up and get belly rubs. The reason he is with a behavioral trainer in foster care is because he has had a tough life so far and does not trust people very quickly. Sully desperately needs someone that is willing to give him this second chance at life and provide a forever home for him! My favorite traits about Sully are:
More about Sully’s training progress:
It took a lot of time and effort on multiple members of the rescue’s account to learn more about Sully. When he first came into rescue, no one knew much about him as he was found as a stray. We aren’t sure what he has witnessed or what he’s been through so it can make training tough when trying to learn what his triggers are. Throughout my time with Sully so far, I have theorized that regardless of figuring out what he’s been through, he definitely does not trust people upon first meeting and displays defensive behaviors when people do certain motions such as hug each other, high five, etc. - basically touch each other in any way. When we first got him, he went after us multiple times in the span of a few weeks. We played around with different training techniques to see what he responded best to and discovered that positive reinforcement and treats was the best way to go for him. I did not trust Sully and he did not trust me. Throughout these past two months, Sully has made tremendous progress. I can see a huge difference in his confidence and trust in people, and I can say with ease that I trust him now. My family was able to come over and visit and he was happily wagging his tail the whole time, taking treats from everyone. He took a nap on my lap while everyone was in the room which never would’ve happened in the early stages.
I was instructed to keep him off the website until I was confident that he was ready to placed in a forever home. It’s a bittersweet moment but he is ready.
The perfect owner for Sully would understand that when Sully undergoes yet another home change to be adopted, he may display some behaviors that reflect his emotions from being uprooted from what he currently knows. There is a chance Sully may need time and effort on your part to get to know you and learn to trust you, just as he has done with me. I can assure you that once you have created that bond with him, it will be the best! He is so loving and he deserves someone to choose him, love him, and vouch for him. He has so much potential and just requires an adopter who is experienced with the breed and knowledgable when it comes to handling his trust issues going forward. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about Sully to determine if he’s the right fit for you, and if you’re the right fit for him!

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.
