Hey Lady-At-The-Computer - It's February - Heart month! Have we got someone to melt your heart!  Benny is a Yorkie - just like you always wanted.

Benny thought he heard you knockin' at his door and got so excited! See that tilt to his chin? He's listening for you!  This is a very smart boy.

He has waited so patiently for a Yorkie lover to see him on this page. Did YOUR Yorkie pass to the Rainbow Bridge recently? Are you missing him or her?  Well here is a Yorkie who needs you and his owner is gone too - so this is a match.

This little guy pops out of bed in the mornings READY TO PLAY!. He loves to play with other dogs too. He doesn't care a fig for toys - he wants to be with you. He is willing to stop playing for breakfast, but will follow you and help with the housework if you want. He loves warm laundry - ahhhh.

If you have errands to run - to the grocery store, stopping in at Lowe's hardware - he would love to go in with you and show off how pretty he is. People will be mesmerized by his big eyes and lovely coat.

He eats very well, sitting nicely for his meal or treats, without being told to do so. He likes carrots, green beans, celery for snacks. You vegetarians can share with him.

Benny loves his walks and car rides, and rides nicely in the back seat.

He can still be a bit protective at home, so he needs to work more on that. It only happens at home, on his own turf, and only with strangers. Give him credit for being the watch puppy that he is. Remember that he is doing his best for you and show him what he is allowed to do and what he is not. Just like a child. He needs to reminded of his manners when strangers show up.  So do most children. They have to be reminded to say Please and thank you. Benny has to reminded that they aren't coming to steal the TV...

At home, he is very good natured and gets along well with the other dogs. He can be protective of his pack with strange dogs but it is improving all the time.

He’s a young, healthy, energetic little dog who loves to be with his people. He’s building muscle now and is up to walking as long as you want. He will hike with you or lounge on the sofa... whatever YOU want to do.

Benny is every bit a Yorkie! He is the picture of a purebred Yorkie with attitude! He is classically beautiful, exactly the right size -8 pounds on the money!

He will be happiest in a confident, assured, skilled, experienced Yorkie home. Anything less and Benny will want to do things his way!

He seems to be fine with most cats and hasn't had a problem with older children. He sometimes gets bossy with strangers so he needs someone to help him settle when new people come to his home.

To put in your application, please go to our website and fill it out completely. Benny is vacationing with Rita and Paul in Holtwood, PA below lancaster, PA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
