Dear Mom,

I am writing you this letter from me, Hudson, because we haven’t met yet and I know you are looking for me.  How do I know? Because you are reading this love letter and I want you to fall in love – with me.

I am the best dog in the whole world.  Yes, I am!  I have been working hard to learn how to please you and make you proud of me.   I want you to know all about me, so that your eyes light up when you hear my name.  Potty trained? Yes, I am – I will bark to let you know that I need to use the facilities, just like any good dog would do.  I am a very smart dog and I need someone like you who is just as intelligent. I don’t work for dummies.

People want a dog to let them know someone is outside – I can’t promise that I can take them down but I’ll  let you know they are there, that’s my job. I’ll let you know when to expect a knock from a stranger.  You’ll know what to do then, I know you will, cause that is your job.

I bark when I need something, like when it’s supper time and I am excited watching you measure out my dinner.  Don’t get the wrong idea – I am not a problem child – no wild, crazy, senseless noise.   Just the real deal, when you need me and I have something important to say.

Car rides are so much fun, I can’t wait to jump in the seat beside you to ride shotgun.  Honest, boss. I will guard you with my life and make happy small talk to keep you company while we ride with the windows down and the wind in our ears – er, hair….   Yes, I will love to go anywhere – with you.

Because I talk more with my big brown eyes than with my smiling lips, I stay close to you, in the house, so that I can help you with any chore you choose.  Sometimes, when I really want to get my point across, I tap you on the cheek with my nose.  A love tap.  Me to you – to say, I love you, pay attention to me.

Tell me to fetch something and I’ll bring you the living room couch if that’s what you need.  Doing laundry? Me too!  Doing the leaves? Me too!  I don’t care what you want to do, I just want to do it with you. I’m with you, mom.  You’ll never be alone again.

When it’s time for bed – just say the word.  I’ll be there waiting, wiggling with excitement, ready to keep you warm and snuggling through the night.  Snow is on it’s way but you’ll be warm – we’ll be warm together, you and me.  Please Mom, its all I want for Christmas.

If you have another dog, I’ll make it work.  If you have had a Yorkie before, you know we are one stubborn, determined breed. And we need a special person who is just as smart and just as stubborn.

But I really am writing this to you – my new mom.  If you are reading this, you must want a little dog.  A good boy. A smart boy.  Someone to be yours.  Someone to play with, to throw toys for, to call for supper, to hug when the movie is scary, to say a thank you prayer to God, for sending such a miracle to love you, for who you are.  That’s  me, Hudson.  The little boy with the big eyes and shaggy ears.

So, Mom, my teeth are clean and sparkling – please help me keep those pearly whites – after you brush your teeth, we’ll do mine so that our smiles will match – for many years to come.  All my shots are done, I am already to come home to you.

They promised me a bath so I will be fresh and clean to meet you.  Please come soon.  I am so ready to come home.  I’m writing this to you, asking you kindly, please call and tell my friends that you read my letter and you want me for your own.

Your friend,

Hudson

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
