Meet Pippin, a beautiful, healthy, happy, 3 month old Yorkiepoo that is full of puppy energy!

Pippin is looking for the perfect home! Might it be yours?  Pippin needs to have someone at home with her during the day.  She will be very sad if left alone, and she needs people time right now to learn how things are done, to enjoy human companionship and interaction, to play and explore the world, and to be loved.  That means, she needs a family that is willing and able to devote lots of time and energy to her….she deserves that.  It would also be amazing if this family knew and understood the Yorkie breed and if this family had experience with housetraining.  How wonderful would it be if this family had a safe outdoor area to explore, and a community in which to take regular walks? As far as canine companionship goes, a playmate would be welcomed by Pippin, but that playmate should be small/tiny too, and one that is young enough to really enjoy play.  So, as you can see, Pippin is looking for a very specific home.

She is now 13 weeks of age, and she is 3 pounds.  She is sweetness inside and out.  This is a playful puppy throughout the day, with her energy peaking in the 7 to 9:30 PM time period.  After the final burst, she falls into a sleep that lasts through the entire night until 7 or 8 AM.  She sleeps in her own bed at the side of ours, but loves to move somewhat, so an extra blanket on the floor works perfectly.  She also loves to lay on your clothes, socks, or shoes.  Potty training is a work in progress, and she is getting better and better at it.

She is an independent pup, yet she likes to be close by at all times.  Mornings are when she is most loving and mushy, which makes sense because she has missed us through the night.

She is talented at playing fetch!  She runs along with her unique gait/hop/slide to return a ball or toy, and she enjoys every moment of the game.  Redirection has to be used when she forgets and desires to chew a human toe or finger.  We always have toys or chew sticks on hand for that purpose.

If you are looking to make a lifetime commitment and if your family fits what Pippin needs, please take time and care in completing the application found on the website.

Pippin is staying with Donna, in Lancaster, PA, until she finds her forever home.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.
