Mersaydees is available for adoption.

She is 4 years old and weighs 8 lbs.

Her adoption fee is $450.00.

Mersaydees is four years old today, May 25TH!  Happy Birthday, Mersaydees and many more….

She continues to wait patiently for her perfect, forever home to be found.  She has put on a bit more weight while staying with her friend, Joseph, who is on a home-cooked diet.  Saydee now tips the scales at 8 pounds, but our vet thinks she is in exceptional shape, and he would guess her to be much younger if he did not know her actual age. She certainly still qualifies as being a petite Chorkie.

This little canine will add so much to someone’s household!  Her many loves include defuzzing balls and chasing them, playing tug of war with favorite stuffed animals, jumping as though there were springs in her legs, and speed racing around a room when she is a ball of energy.  In addition, she loves to be held like an infant…with her vertical body perched on your chest and her paws either split one per shoulder or together on one shoulder. You need to be prepared as she often jumps right into your arms when you may not be expecting it! She loves to lay by your side or on your legs when she is tired, and she adores sleeping in bed with you, tucked securely by your side under the toasty covers. By day, if there is a high place to perch, couch backs, top of chairs, etc., you will find Saydee very comfortably positioned there.  She absolutely adores children and humans who come to visit, although she may be a bit shy at first.  She is a kisser who definitely aims for your lips quite often, and she is always so happy to see you in the morning or when you’ve been away for a while. There are moments when she demonstrates complete independence, sometimes thwarting our entreaties to come to us, but she eventually comes around for attention.

During walks she is very cautious and timid.  If she spies people with dogs walking, she is quite the barker and pulls on her leash.  It is obvious that in her previous home she was not walked very often, thus her outside social skills are lacking. She is most comfortable being taken in the yard to accomplish pottying in her favorite spots. If she hears noises while outside such as a dog barking or people talking, she becomes very nervous.  She is excellent at going outside to potty, although she sometimes marks a spot as if to say, “This is my area….”

She has come to enjoy going “bye-bye” in the car with our Joseph.  She will climb into her travel bag willingly, and her bag is unzipped in the car to allow her to peek out when she desires. She enjoys these little jaunts around town, and we are happy to see growth in this area as she was very frightened of riding at the beginning of her stay, and her previous owner stated that she did not like short car rides.

The perfect home for Saydee would be one that will be very patient with her as she is extremely shy in new situations, and it takes a chunk of time for her to come around and show her true personality.  Once she feels safe and comfortable, she will begin to emerge from her protective “shell”. Hopefully there may be children to love and play with her. If not, her humans should be prepared to play ball and tug of war. It would be ideal if she could be the only dog as she has trouble sharing at times, and she is often fearful of other dogs, although inquisitive too.  She and my Yorkie, Joseph, tolerate each other, and she has given my visiting grand-dogs, a Yorkie and a Chorkie,  a tussle at times, vying for toys, play, affection and attention. To compensate for her fear, she will posture herself as the dominant dog at times.

Saydee longs for a second chance on life.  She wants, needs, and truly deserves a perfect family and a forever placement.  Might you be that family to be able to provide her with love, attention, and stability?  If you have a soft spot in your heart for big brown eyes and a lovable little spirit, please consider Ms. Mersaydees. She would love to meet you.

Mersaydees is staying with Donna, Wayne, and Joseph in Lancaster, PA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.
