Minney is available for adoption.

She is 6 years old and weighs 11 lbs.

Her adoption fee is $500.00.

Minney is continuing to show us her sweet personality.  She is very sweet.  She eats when told. She goes potty when told.  She sleep all night long.  She loves walking...I mean LOVES walking.  She will need someone who can walk her 2-3 miles a day at a 15 min mile pace.  I believe she would even run with you.  She is beginning to initiate play with my pack and join in with my pack when they rough house.  She is beginning to go to the toy basket and get a toy to play with now and then.  She runs to the door with my pack when someone come in but she doesn't really bark much.

She would do well with someone who is active and home most of the day.  She does have a bit of separation anxiety but it seems to be better than when she first came to me a month ago.  She is used to our routine now.  She has not met anyone she doesn't like yet.  She is a great companion and follows me around from room to room.  She gets super excited when I get the leash out for walks.

She is a happy dog and has adjusted easily in my home.

Once thing Minney does not like is cats!  or any small animals she perceives as prey.  She would like a fenced in yard but its not a requirement.  But she definitely will require walks daily as I have mentioned.  She is an active dog at only 6 years old.

She is great for bath time and not scared of the blowdryer.  She bahaves for the groomer as well.  She is also good in the car after the first 10-15 minutes.  Until then she is quite nervous but eventually settles down to rest.  Maybe she associated the car with the vet or the groomer :-)

Overall she is one of the sweetest and easiest dogs I have ever fostered.  If I could keep her I would!  She is very loving and loyal and does not bark at the doorbell or the mailman...

Minney is staying with Sharon and her gang in Hopewell, VA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
