Penelopeep is available for adoption.

She is 5 years old and weighs 7 lbs.

Her adoption fee is $550.00.

Penelopeep (Penny for short) is adjusting quite well. She is a smart girl and has learned our routine quickly.

She was a bit nervous when she first arrived and loud noises scared her. She’s more confident now. Although loud noises get her attention, they don’t send her running.

She adores my husband and has attached herself to him. She wants him most of the time. However, she allows me to take her out early in the morning before he’s out of bed.

She loves to go for walks with him and is doing very well on a lead. She does get upset  when it is someone else’s turn and cries at the window pacing back and forth until his return.

When my husband and I come back from a short excursion, Penny greets us as if we’ve been away for days; running, crying and jumping all over us. We are continuously working on her jumping but this will most likely take longer than 2 weeks.

She’s getting along better with my dogs. At first it seemed as if she had never associated with any dogs. So, she constantly sniffed them for the first 3 days; too many days to be tolerated by my guys. Now she approaches them with a bit more calm and respect.

She has a good appetite and has learned not to take from anyone else’s bowl.

She is housebroke, only had a few accidents when she first arrived. But now we understand her alarm system; which is a loud bark (in your face) and a little bit of a growl when you’re moving too slow.

Her favorite spot is on top of the couch looking out the window. Since this is Rosie’s spot, they have learned to compromise and get along.

Penelopeep went to the vet this week for a physical and to have her incision checked.  She is in excellent health and may be younger than assumed and is almost 11 lbs.

She has truly become a sweet, loving little girl. And once she knows you, she is very affectionate and gentle.

She would make a great addition to any family.

Penelopeep is staying with Donna in East Brunswick, NJ.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
