Brimy is an active, fun loving 2-3 year old boy.  He is an absolute delight.  He has energy that never ends.  He loves people, children and dogs.  He's very social.  He wants to play with anyone and everyone.  He loves rides in the car and walks in the park.  He is friendly, loving and cuddly.  This boy needs people or dogs around him, so if you work and he's home alone all day, he won't be happy.  He is a terrible tease with other dogs and barks at them until they chase him, over and over and over.  His antics make you laugh.

He gets along with any dogs that come into his home.  He sniffs them, jumps up on the big ones and immediatly reverts to his playful nature.  Going back and forth until they finally respond.  He's then in his glory.  Great, someone to play with!

He is a killer of all squeaky toys, balls, knottys.  He needs tough toys that he can't destroy.  But he doesn't chew anything in the house that he's not supposed to.  Only his toys.

He has a wonderful personality and has never exhibited any aggression what so ever.  He can be around young children and he's as sweet as can be.  This is a family dog.  A true family dog.  A dog that needs children and playing and fun.

He likes to sleep in his bed on the floor, but he'll wake you up in the morning jumping on your bed and licking you.  Another day to play!  Let's get going.

He likes treats, any treats, and takes them very gently out of your hand.  He has manners that way.  You can put your hand in his bowl while he's eating or take a bone from him.  He's completely fine.

He loves to lay on the sofa with you and he'll jump up and put his head in your lap and fall asleep with you petting him.  He loves to be held and petted and kissed.

He is completely house trained and never has accidents.  He likes to be in and out all day, barking at something, running at the birds, chasing a squirrel up a tree or running around with a stick in his mouth.  He's also good with just following you around the yard while you do things outside.  A good companion that just wants to be with you.

He weighs about 14 lbs. and has a black/gray coat.  He loves to be brushed and is very good getting a bath.

This is a wonderful little boy who has great spirit and joy.  If you have the time to play and walk with him, he's the perfect little companion.  He needs a family with children who can give him the attention he needs to keep him happy.  He's the kind of dog that a child could dress up and play with for hours.

Brim is so happy to be alive, to be a dog, to be free.  He's young and active. He needs a family who will take him for good long walks, take him to obedience classes to learn manners, and practice with him. He's such a smart little guy.

Give him a chance to be the pretty boy next to you. Now he is vacationing in Warminster, PA.

Once upon a time... a fine young Yorkie was happily following his shiny little button nose when he realized - he was lost!  He looked around quickly but did not recognize the dark streets all around. That was when he started to panic and tried to back track to his home. It was getting dark, the night sounds were starting all around him. He stopped dead in his tracks when a car came zooming by. Should he go left? Should he go right? There was no yellow brick road - just lots of black asphalt.  What was a small dog to do?

He was hungry, very tired and his hair was hanging limply as he laid under a tree and placed his chin on his crossed legs.  What a terrible thing - to be lost, without a home, without a family.  This little dog was scared.

A family in a van spotted the quivering animal along the road as they were on their way to church.  He saw them too, as they jumped from the vehicle and walked slowly toward him -coaxing him softly to come with them. One ear up and one ear down, wagging his tail tentatively, head down, eager to please - he minced his steps and came nicely to them. The kids were delighted as they picked him up and smiled brightly. They had saved a dog! Their mom smiled too but knew that this happiness could not last. The home they rented did not permit dogs; they could not take him home.

She got down low and tried to explain that this little dog might have a family who was looking for him. How sad they would be if he didn't come back to them. Nodding, their understanding, trying hard to be courageous, the children asked if they could hold the dog while they drove to the shelter. Of course, said their mom, it was the right thing to do.

They talked over what to call him and decided on the name "Brim."  Because he was just full of life and love.

Brim is so happy to be alive, to be a dog, to be free.  He's young and active. He needs a family who will take him for good long walks, take him to obedience classes to learn manners, and practice with him. He's such a smart little guy.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
