Hello! My name is Bubby but my FURiends and family call me Hercules!!

I am a friendly, energetic and affectionate pup who enjoys human interaction so much I hope to find a family that is home much of the time.

I am such a snuggler! I love to sit with my foster family each evening while they read or watch TV. I have become fond of the show Jeopardy! I can answer every question...but no one pays attention when I give the answer! They don't speak dog!! But I win final Jeopardy! every single evening!!

In addition to snuggling I enjoy exercising! I am very agile and athletic. I can walk 2 miles in 30 minutes...can you? If you are not big on walking already, pass me by.

Are you up to the challenge? I would love to be your trainer! Exercise is good for humans too, ya know? According to an article entitled A Dog Could Be Your Hearts Best Friend.

I can help you in ways I didn't even know!! It says..."People who have dogs live longer than people who have cats, and the assumption has been that dogs naturally cause their owners to be more active...AND ...the emotional benefits of having an affectionate creature are also one of the theories for why dog-lovers live longer.” So...adopt me and let's get healthy together! I will be your accountability Bubby! Get it? I am good at puns too!

I would enjoy an active family where someone is home during the day. I am good at  house training if you are there to let me out.  BUT, please - NO crate!!  I have made it very clear, with every way a dog can communicate - "NO crate, Mama. Please, no crate!  I am a good boy with perfect manners. No crate, please."

I like to sleep in my little bed for naps and I will keep your toes warm at night on the foot of your bed! I promise not to take up too much room.

Please consider me as the newest addition to your family! I promise I will make you happy and healthy.

I am great with older children and needs twice daily walks.  I just need a little attention.  I will make a wonderful companion for someone and a nice addition to any home.  I am definitely a lover and like to give kisses and being near my people.  I just want a family of my own. It will be a lucky family who gets this beautiful, well mannered gentleman. They don't come any sweeter, easier, more loving - than ME! a true treasure. I am the dog to ask for. (PS  My real name is Hercules.)

Bubby is vacationing in Hopewell, VA, with Sharon and her family.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
