Sully

Sully is such a special boy who has truly blossomed into the best version of himself. As some of you may know, Sully was moved to my house to be fostered so he could undergo behavioral training. He was uncomfortable and untrusting of just about everyone and everything in his life. We didn’t know much about his background since he was brought into rescue as a stray. He struggled immensely but Save a Yorkie Rescue had hope that we could help this guy be the best dog that he can be! I was instructed to not have him advertised or on the website until I was confident that he had changed his behaviors and was a safe dog to adopt out. After a couple months of consistent training and trust building, I was happy to announce that he was ready to be put on the website. Kelsie and Pat saw this the very next morning and immediately reached out to me. That was fast! We had a great conversation about all the training Sully has been through and they were confident that they could take this on. We scheduled a Meet & Greet and everything was absolutely perfect! Sully snuggled right up to Pat on the floor and was on his back getting belly rubs practically the whole time. It was safe to say that Kelsie and Pat fell in love with Sully, and Sully fell in love with them! I had previously mentioned to them that Sully likes all the red toys in my house and they were sweet enough to bring him a red toy. Kelsie and Pat asked if I’d be able to hold onto Sully for an extra two weeks because they were traveling and wanted Sully to have a smooth transition where they could consistently be there for him. Given Sully’s history and how awesome he was with them, we could not say no! Plus, it gave me an extra two weeks to savor my Sully-time before he was off to his forever home. Sure enough, two weeks later, Kelsie and Pat swung by on their way home from their travels to pick him up. Sully was just as happy to see them again and he trotted off into their car with no problem! As they drove off, Sully and I made eye contact from the window and all I could do was just wish him the best of luck on this new chapter of his life. This is when the tears started flowing, of course. I am so happy for and proud of him for overcoming such a challenging behavioral issue so that he can live the rest of his life in happiness and peace. I will truly miss him and he will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you Kelsie and Pat for giving this boy the second chance at life that he deserves! Congratulations Sully!!!

Snuggles

Surprise! Snuggles is a Foster Fail and has officially been adopted by her foster mom, Olivia! In October of 2023, while fostering a different dog through SAYR, I was sent the absolute cutest picture of two tiny puppies that had just come into rescue. I think these tiny terrors were driving Kathy crazy because she could not wait until I was available to take them in! My foster dog at the time found an awesome forever home and the day he got adopted, I immediately made my trek to go pick up the girls. Snuggles had stolen my heart from that very first picture because she immediately reminded me of my first rescue from SAYR, who is still with us, Phoebe (formerly Breezie, 2019). Snuggles’ sister and littermate, Kisses, was also such a beautiful bundle of joy, which made this decision such a tough one! I knew in my heart that I was going to end up keeping one of these babies but also knew that I could not keep both due to the risks of Littermate Syndrome into adulthood. Throughout the beginning of fostering them, I had bounced back and forth, completely indecisive on who I wanted to adopt. As time went on, it became more apparent that Snuggles needed to stay. As much as I adored Kisses, I could see that she was growing to be so much more confident and independent around other people and dogs, and she was also getting a lot of attention online. Along with the fact that a lot of people wanted and applied for her, I could tell that Kisses adapted to new situations and people better and I had no doubt that she would thrive going to a new home with her forever family. Snuggles on the other hand, had a total of one application in the entire four months that I was fostering, and they did not pass. She was also very nervous and lacked confidence in a lot of areas. We spent a lot of time building our relationship to ensure she was comfortable and getting trained appropriately. During this training time, I realized that I couldn’t let her go and we had built such an amazing bond. She had finally broken out of her shell and began trusting the life around her, and I just couldn’t send her off to start all over again. She has meshed perfectly into my small dog pack and has thrived in our household! She is so unique and genuinely makes us laugh with the silly things she does. She is also very bright and extremely sweet, which is something I’ve loved about her since day one. I love her so much and am so excited to share the rest of her life taking adventures and trying new things. She will never have to cower back in her shell ever again. I have since renamed her Rhea and everyone in her life loves her to pieces already! I’m so grateful for the chain of events that brought her to me and my forever pack. Congratulations Snuggles!!!

Simon Sez

Simon Sez is now in his forever home! His new family already love him to pieces. One of his new Yorkie "sisters" came along to make sure Simon was the real deal for them...and he passed with flying colors. Simon will be one of three pups in his new home...and he'll finally be the YOUNGEST dog in the house! As sad as his foster parents are to have to say farewell to this sweet little boy, we are so glad that his new family seems to fit him perfectly. Congratulations Simon Sez!!!

Skittles

The LoVarco family had been approved in February to adopt a needy dog from SAYR, and it wasn't long before dream dog, Skittles, caught their eye. Yesterday, with tail wagging and a heart full of joy, Skittles finally had a meet and greet with this loving family. His playful and affectionate personality shined through, and he and the LoVarcos formed an instant connection. It wasn't long before we all knew that this was the perfect match and the adoption was finalized. Now Skittles, aka Ollie, will spend his days surrounded by love in his forever home, receiving all the attention he ever dreamed of. Here's to happy endings and new beginnings! Two hearts Dog face. Congratulations Skittles!!!

Signora Vittoria

Signora Vittoria is our 7th SAY rescue success story. Having just lost Dino (our 5th), we needed another companion in our lives. SAY provided the path yet again and Signora Vittoria came into our lives. This little bundle of energy needs to yet learn a few things, like when a leash is attached, it does not mean and roll over. how to properly drink out of a water dish. However, her outdoor potty skills are nearly perfect when she can she knows where the wee-wee pads are and uses them. Her devotion to her adoptive mommy is unquestionable (she could have been named Shadow). She is almost a mountain goat with her ability (and apparent need) to jump into chairs and up onto counters when available. (Yes, we will continue to discourage such activity.) She is our very first pup to know how to play with toys and chases them with gusto. Letting them go however, is going to take some time…which we have plenty of, and will gladly be dedicating to the task. A true lover of belly rubs, Signora Vittoria is a delight and a handful at the same time. We can’t wait to see what she has in store for us in the coming years. Welcome to your forever home, Signora Vittoria. Congratulations Signora Vittoria!!!
