Chayse

Chayse is my first foster, and first foster fail! I drove to New Jersey 2.5 months ago with friends to meet another volunteer half way, and on our way back in the backseat of the car we started to bond. Even though he didn’t look like a Yorkie, and was so skinny you could see his ribs, and he had the runs, and was as nervous as could be, my heart melted. He is a completely different dog now. So handsome. Very confident and loyal, loves his walks, his toys, helping me in the yard, playing with the neighbor’s dogs, and resting while I work. Can’t imagine life without him now! Congratulations Chayse!!!

Kimmie

Lil Kimmie was adopted on Sunday by Layne. She drove down from northern NY with her sister Margo and their dogs Taco & Tazz. They came over Saturday afternoon to meet Kimmie and it was love at first sight. Tazz and Taco were also very excited to add a sister to the pack! Layne was so excited to adopt Kimmie and give her the amazing life she deserves. Kimmie is an older dog who was surrendered with her son Inky back in March. Inky was adopted last month since they were not a bonded pair. Kimmie had some health issues to work through but she is a fighter and is doing great now 😊 Layne is retired and will be able to spend lots of time with Kimmie. She also told me she had a closet full of clothes for her! Layne seems like the perfect home for Kimmie. Congratulations Kimmie!!!

Maxx

Here’s Maxx with Lynn and Michael...Since Day 1, Maxx and his younger sister Tiny Dancer have gotten along quite well. Maxx enjoys couch time and being held. Tiny and he often sleep next to each other on the couch. He has been with us just over three weeks - during that time it was easy to see Maxx had arrived at his forever home. Maxx had won our hearts. Thanks for introducing us to Maxx. Since we started with Save-A-Yorkie, we have had two successful adoptions (Willy and Anakin), and two foster fails. Congratulations Maxx!!!

Bailie

As of Thursday my little munchkin Bailie (Zoe B) has been adopted and into the arms of a married man! Yes it's true! Lorraine and Alan Bagen are now Zoe's new mom and dad ..and Lilly and Mila her new dog sisters. Zoe has been making herself comfortable on Alan's comfy lap and chair, and making sure she gets the best seat in the house which is sitting next to and on Alan! To her credit she IS sharing her chair space with Lilly and Mila When Lorraine arrived she immediately got on the floor with treats for Zoe who was then eating out of her hands so to speak. Lorraine was so happy to meet little Bailie she stayed with her on the floor most of our meet and greet time. But then it was time to leave... My heart nearly broke when I helped put Zoe in her car seat for the ride to her new home. My little tiny girl leaving me but now so strong and healthy. Zoe is ready to start the best part of her life now thanks to Save a Yorkie Rescue. Thank you Lorraine and Alan for giving our little rescue Zoe a forever life of being loved, spoiled, happy and healthy with her new family! Congratulations Bailie!!!

Pinky

On May 1 we picked Pinky up from the airport in Millville, NJ. I want to once again thank Andy from Pilots N Paws for flying Pinky up from Va. I also want to thank Susannah and Sara for picking her up from the shelter, taking care of her and texting me everyday until her arrival. I have been with SAY for 9 years doing phone interviews and a few home visits. This has been my first time fostering and I have to say I have come away with a new admiration for all our foster families. During my phone interviews I always encourage people to consider fostering and that the foster parents are what keeps this rescue going. If we had no foster families we could not rescue all the dogs that need our help. During the 4 weeks that we have had Pinky I’ve learned that fostering is not only the hardest job in the rescue but also the most rewarding. The paperwork, pictures, bios, talking with and texting with potential adopters, making vet and grooming appointments, house training, etc are just a few of the things that need to be done to find potential adopters and to care for the dog. But, the best part of fostering is watching the dog thrive, learning to adjust, to trust and to love. Ruth and I knew from day one when Pinky came into are home that it was probably going to be impossible for us to let her go. On May 24 we adopted our beautiful, smart and funny little Pinky. Some people call it failing fostering but as I said to Kathy Moore many years ago I call it knowing where the dog belongs. In 4 weeks I’ve seen Pinky grow into a secure, confident and happy little girl. Everyday she does something new that surprises us and makes us laugh. In the 3.5 weeks that Pinky was on our website I received 3 calls, one about her cost and two about her health. I thought it was very sad that no one asked what is she like, what does she need, what makes her happy. Ruth and I have been truly blessed with our new little girl. I would like to also thank my mentor, Bonnie for helping me to become a foster and answering all of my many questions, Sharon for her advice and fostering video, Shona for all the supplies and Kathy and Tom Moore. I would not be involved with SAY if it weren’t for Kathy and Tom. We adopted our first rescue and little miracle Darcy from them and they encouraged me to volunteer. Kathy trained me to do phone interviews and taught me a lot about rescuing. It takes a team and SAY is a great team to be on. Congratulations Pinky!!!
