Tailor is one of our Forever Foster's. Will YOU sponsor Tailor?
A Forever Foster is a dog that is either older, has a medical condition or a socialization issue and seem to be unadoptable only because we receive no applications for these dogs thus we assume no one wants to adopt them. Save A Yorkie Rescue will not euthanize a dog for these reasons and the dogs remain in rescue to live out their lives with their forever foster family. Their remaining years (no matter what age they are) are spent being well taken care of and loved in their forever foster homes. Save A Yorkie Rescue pays for all of their vet bills, including all medications they may be on, grooming, food/treats if on a special diet and any supplies one of these dogs may need. Save A Yorkie Rescue is able to provide for our Forever Foster's, only through the generous donations we receive from all of the Yorkie lovers out there! If you would like to Sponsor one or more of our Forever Foster's, please send a donation through the Sponsor Button on the dog's web page or send a check to: Save A Yorkie Rescue, Inc., 526 N. St. Cloud St., #602, Allentown, PA 18104 Whatever way you make a donation to Sponsor one of our Forever Foster's, please include the dogs name with the donation you make and that you are Sponsoring that particular dog, so we can list your name on the dog's web page as his/her Sponsor. When Sharron Weiderle from SAYR picked Tailor up, she had been left on the sidewalk in her crate with no water or protection from the heat. Once Sharron gave Tailor a bath and cut the matted hair around her eyes, she found that Tailor is able to see and hear. Unfortunately, Tailor’s remaining teeth are in terrible shape, and she will likely lose them all. Over the next two days, Sharron got Tailor a much needed grooming as well as her rabies shot. As equally important, Sharron also provided much love and care to kick start her healing journey. Jack Ford then coordinated with Mitch Langsner to transport Tailor to us in NJ where she will be our forever foster.
Since her move to NJ, Tailor has been thriving. On her first day home, she ran around her new yard investigating all the flowers. Getting a photo of her was a challenge because she was running around so much. Seeing her run after spending so much time confined to a crate was amazing. Initially, Tailor seemed uncomfortable being picked up and held, but did like an ear scratch or belly rub. After a few days of reassuring snuggles and kisses, she not only allows herself to be comfortably picked up, but at times, falls asleep in your arms. By day four, Tailor had successfully explored her new home and yard to the point where she now has moved on to exploring the various cozy places to take naps throughout the day. Tailor prefers to nap on the carpet. But, she sometimes follows, Rosie, her new older sister’s lead, and gives the dog beds and couches a fair try. She fell right in with our family’s routine. With each passing day, her sweet personality shines through more and more.
In order to assure that this senior lady continues to thrive, SAYR has already made it possible for her to receive two vet checks, needed vaccines, and various tests to make sure she is free of any parasites and illness. This week she will be have a dental appointment, a spay procedure, and be fitted with her microchip thanks to SAYR.
Tailor is the third senior rescue that our family has had the blessing of adopting or forever fostering from SAYR. We are so thankful for the quick, organized, and stream-lined manner in which SAYR jumps into action when a dog is in need of rescue. SAYR and its dedicated volunteers has made it possible for Tailor to go from being neglected and abused to pampered and adored in less than a week’s time. Seeing her love of the outdoors and the flowers in the garden made this a lovely day for this sweet girl. Many thanks to the wonderful people Sponsoring Tailor! Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home.
