Juley is available for adoption.

Juley is 3 years old and weighs 3.9 pounds. She should fill in to about 6 pounds.

Juley is fostering with Cheryl in Annapolis, MD

Juley's adoption fee is $500

Juley is just right!  Just the right age, just the right size, and just right as a Yorkie. What we can tell you now is that she is a sweet girl, and there is no food aggression when you reach for her food bowl. Juley loves to go outside to do her business and take in the fresh sweet summer air.

Juley is a good girl during her bath, holding still for a shampoo, rinse, and towel and warm air drying using a small hair dryer.

Juley is very interested in her environment, looking out the window to see the world passing by. She is not a barker. She has not shown much interest in chasing a squirrel, ground birds, or chipmunks. While sitting in the garden on a lead, Juley follows any plane, foot or car traffic that she hears, but does not bark at it or show interest in chasing. She has met several neighbor's dogs and loved them immediately.

Juley's overall health is good other than she is very under nourished, and quite thin. She was just spayed and had her teeth cleaned. Juley is now on Heartgard and Seresto for heartworm prevention and fleas and ticks.

Juley's housetraining is just fine. When she needs help overnight, she uses a pee pad - smart girl!

While we wait for her procedure - we will be looking for the family who meets her needs.

We are looking for:
1. A family who has experience with dogs, Yorkies in particular.  Who understands the stubborn demeanor that is a Yorkie and will take her to obedience classes so she learns to walk on a leash.
2. A family who has a vet we can call for a reference.
3. A family who has time for her, to work with her, to train her, to social and exercise her. If you are gone most of the day, this is not a good match.
4. An active family who walks now and will get her out and moving.
5. No big dogs please - she is a little girl.
6. No small children - again she is a little girl.
7. Maybe another small dog for her to follow and learn the ropes.
8. A yard where she can play would be a great thing.
9. Juley would love to have a family who will have patience, who will brush her teeth, who will give her discipline when she needs it and socialization as she gets used to new experiences.

Read that list over.  If you can check off these things, please put in your application. If you can't, please look at the other Yorkies on our website.  Thank you.

Juley is vacationing in Annapolis, MD with Cheryl and her family.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
