Kisses is available for adoption.

She is 6 months old and weighs 5 lbs.

Her adoption fee is $600.00.

You better be prepared because Kisses will give you more love than you can handle! This girl truly lives up to her name and will give you everlasting kisses! She is estimated to be about 6 months old and has such a fun spirited personality! Kisses loves meeting new people and dogs and adapts quickly to new situations. She’s a fiery little one, with lots of spunk!

Kisses loves to play throughout the day. She keeps the other dogs in the household on their toes and loves to play with toys. Her favorite toy is her little lamb chop, but she also loves puppy teething bones to soothe those gums! She gets along great with the other dogs in the household and is continuing to learn their social cues and boundaries. She can be vocal during play with small grumbles and growls, which is just the cutest thing ever!

We have been working diligently on crate training and potty training and Kisses has been doing a great job! She sleeps all through the night in her crate without any accidents and is ready to potty outside when let out in the morning. She takes routine breaks and nap times in her crate throughout the day as well and settles down nicely. She knows the phrase “go to your bed” and will walk in her crate all by herself. The crate has been a very useful tool because without proper supervision, she will chew on unfavorable things since she’s still a teething puppy. She’s also a sock thief!

Kisses has been working on some obedience training as well. She has learned: sit, lay down, stay, and wait for door manners. She will also release objects that she has stolen without a fuss! We work on applying these commands to daily life. She is also routinely asked to sit and wait while I prepare her food. She has learned to wait with the other dogs until each of their names are called to go to their individual bowls. Whether she’s called first or last, she waits patiently and knows exactly which bowl to go to! We also have taken time to just sit outside and people-watch to expose her to every day life.

Kisses has been to the vet and got a clean bill of health! She will need to be spayed. We are working with our local spay clinic to get this set up but they were waiting for her to gain another pound or two before subjecting her to anesthesia. We will update accordingly! She is up to date on her vaccinations and did a great job overall at the vet. She was friendly with the staff and walked around curiously. She travels *great* in the car. She is quiet, comfortable, and will mostly use the time to take a nap. Kisses has also been exposed to other dogs and people. She’s been to a few doggy play dates with her foster family’s friends and has attended a couple “puppy social hours” at a local dog daycare. She really enjoys meeting new friends and shares any toys nicely!

Next, Kisses has had her first puppy grooming and all went well! They just did a light trim for her first time to help her get used to the different noises and sensations and the groomer said she did a great job, and of course, gave her lots of kisses throughout! Not surprised!

Overall, I don’t have anything bad to say about little Kisses! She is such an adorable, loving dog filled with so much personality in her tiny body. She will make anyone happy for the rest of her days! She has so much potential to thrive and learn so many things. She has not been introduced to cats so we are not sure if she is good with them. She gets along great with the few older kids she’s met so far and loves to play with whoever will join her. It is important to note that these children have been supervised by myself and/or their parents and conducted proper handling skills for a small dog. Children should always be monitored around any dog. I don’t foresee any issues with children, as long as they know how to properly handle a small, young dog.

Due to her young age,  Kisses requires a fenced in yard, the completion of an obedience training class, and to be spayed. Depending on the time of her adoption, the spaying may already be done through the rescue. Kisses is already a pretty confident dog and truly thrives from being in the company of other dogs - sometimes more than people! Kisses was found in a box on the side of the road with her littermate. They are being fostered together but will not be adopted out together due to the risks of Littermate Syndrome as they age into adulthood. I’d be happy to talk more about this topic if you have any questions about why they are being separated! I’m really hoping she can find a forever home with a young dog companion to do life alongside her to help soften the separation from her littermate.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to learn more about this very special baby! She’s ready for her fur-ever home!

Kisses is staying with Olivia in Elkton, MD.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
