Dobby is available for adoption.

He is almost 2 Years old and weighs 11 lbs.

His adoption fee is $850.00.

Dobby’s adoption adventure began earlier this week with me and Tom picking this little guy up in Olean NY. We truly had no idea what he was truly like or even what he looked like but when he got out of the surrendering owners car, we noticed he was absolutely adorable and walked around like he knew it. Usually it takes us a while to learn about our new foster likes and dislikes, their personality, habits, what they like to do and play with, not to mention getting them used to our pack, Gia our Lab, Gertie our foster fail, and new to this whole idea our 9 month kitten/cat Lucy Belle.

In very short order this guys perky adaptable personality has won us all over, it’s a feat I never thought would happen that quickly, especially with Gertie!

A few things we are sure of, if I could describe Dobby in one word it would be “delightful!” He has a champion appetite, loves his daily hair brushing, double points if he’s on your lap while being brushed, he is potty trained almost 90%, he only wears a belly band at night just in case and has only peed once in the band, no accidents at all in the house, he has meet other friends and dogs, big or small he loves them all, and they like him too. He has super duper energy and if you ever want to enter him in a fetching contest he will win! He never gets tired!

Dobby’s turning 2yrs in January so he’s still young and will also need a fenced in yard to run and play in, he really loves the fenced in yardit at our house. This sweet little guy is extremely confident and will need his adopter, a single person, couple,or family with children over the age of 10 to be aware he will need plenty of exercise and engagement to keep you all happy. At his age and how quickly he is learning commands, he might be quite good at agility, he’s very fast.
He also is great on a leash, and an angel in the car when riding, and no separation anxiety. Every super pup has their kryptonite and Dobby’s is he loves to bark, sometimes just to hear himself so that is something we are working on.
If you are interested in learning more about Dobby please call Jan at (814) 449-1139.

Dobby is staying with Jan and Tom in Erie, PA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.
