Willy is a typical puppy....he loves to play.  He likes to play ball and knows to bring the ball back.  He also pushes his toys with his nose,  pounces on the toy and rolls over, just to get up and do it all over again.  It is adorable!

Willy is eating two times a day and loves working for snacks.  We are working on "Sit" and "Come".  When I have to leave the house and come back home, Willie leaps from the floor in joy.  He gets all excited and cannot wait for me to pick him up so he can give me kisses.  He also loves belly rubs.

I have placed a ottoman in front of the window and Willy likes to sit there and watch the world go by.  When he sees someone or something, he sometimes will have a low growl or bark.  Willy is still timid and startles easily with loud noises. He responds to "quiet" which seems to stop the behavior.

Willy loves to go for a walk.  He does very well on the leash, walking to the left of you and staying close.  I have let him walk ahead of me, and if he is 2 feet in front of me, he will turn around and look to see where I am, then join me on my left side.  He has some trouble on the leash going in and out of the door.  I have to coax him both ways, but we are working on getting better.

Willy is playing, taking walks, and rough housing with his foster brother, Barney. Oh, and he loves going for a ride!  We go for road trips once a week.

Willy is a sweet little gem.

Willey is safe and happy - he's exploring his new foster home with his new best buddy, Barney.

He's a baby!   He was surrendered to rescue because his family has medical issues they are dealing with and they wanted him to get the attention and commitment he needs with a new family.

He is a handsome Yorkie puppy who is a little timid but give him time to figure things out.

Here is what he needs and what we are looking for:

A quiet home - he is timid and scared of loud noises... so we want a settled, quiet home.  But he is a puppy so we want someone who is active, walks every day, and wants to wear this puppy out.

He needs attention, training and time with his people. So if you are gone more than 5 hours at a time, this probably wouldn't be the best for Willey. An experienced Yorkie owner would be just the thing.

Willey is a perfect size. Strong, beautiful, young - he will blossom into a wonderful Yorkie with the right family. So we are looking for YOU.

He is vacationing in central PA with Penny. More pictures and information to come.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
