We adopted and Rescued “Sparky” last year during the Yorkie Day Picnic from Loretta & Bob Gilfert, his foster parents. “Mr. Sparks” as Bob & we nick-named him went to the Rainbow Bridge just short of his 11th birthday on April 29th, 2006. We miss him tremendously because he had really come out of his shell with us at our home. He went from not speaking or moving at all when we first brought him home, to being the life of the household! He learned how to bark very loudly, he made little baby lion noises & growls, to little happy squeals of excitement. We had never heard these unique sounds ever come from a dog before, especially not one so small! Sparky was very skinny when we got him and ended up needing to wear a Belly Band pretty regularly, but he learned how to beg for treats, got lots of them, gained 2 POUNDS!!!! and was given many very fashionable Belly Bands (or as we called them Potty Pants). He also learned how to find his way around the house, even with his eyesight being limited (due to hardening of the lenses) as we found out and in his travels learned how to steal his sisters’ hidden doggie bones! Mr. Sparks had a lot of urinary trouble while we had him. Initially he could not stop going and was constantly getting baths, so we ended up getting him a very stylish hair-cut as you will see in his picture(s). In the end he had the opposite problem of not being able to go potty at all. We had taken him to several specialists and Veterinary Hospitals and had X-rays, Radiographs, several Blood Tests, Urine Sample tests, etc. but in the end we found out that he had a cyst near the tube of his bladder that had grown to a size where it was completely covering the tube through which he would normally be able to urinate from. His was in a lot of pain towards the end, but we had given him some pain medicine and tried everything we could to save him. It took a lot of work in caring for this little guy, but it was more than worth it for him to have had such a happy & fun season in his life. I think he was truly happy when he passed because he knew that he had been spoiled and treated like the little King of the Castle that he was. They say that the pain that you feel when someone you love leaves you is equal to the joy they brought you while they were there….. Sparky was a HUGE JOY in our life and he is VERY SORELY missed! We love you Sparks. Mr. Sparks “Sparky” Seifert May 13, 1995 — April 29th, 2006 It is with utmost heartbreak and sadness that I must write that our deeply loved Yorkie, Felix - aka, Rocky, Frazier, went to Rainbow Bridge on June 3, 2006. In mid May he had gone into heart failure very unexpectedly and suddenly. Our wonderful vet pulled him out of it with medication, but then 3 weeks later Felix went into kidney failure, also very unexpectedly and very suddenly. With a bad heart and kidney failure both there is no treatment that could have helped him since the treatment for heart and kidneys is totally opposite and contradict each other. Our excellent vets and their very high tech treatment equipment tried their best to save him, but it just wasn't possible. Felix was so very deeply loved and had the best possible vet care any dog could possibly have had these past 13 months that we had him. We were so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to give him the very best in terms of care and love the last year of his life. I know he left this life knowing he was very, very loved as he died in our arms being kissed on every inch of his little body. Felix's mate, Oscar, - aka, Coco, Niles, seems to be taking it in stride. Most of the time he appears happy; he runs around and plays remarkably for an older dog. At times we can tell he is missing Felix though, just as we do. We are showering Oscar with extra attention and love so he won't miss Felix so much. Our Precious girl... how she loved to ride in the car with her new Mom! She and her new forever family fell in love with each other immediately. Precious knew her job was to love and be loved. She did it so well. Being an older girl, Precious knew she didn't have much time. For no reason at all, just a few days ago, her Mom asked Precious to carry her love to her first dog who was already at the Bridge. This morning at 5 am Precious, flew to the Bridge to take that message. Now they both are waiting for that very special lady who has a heart so big, and love so pure, that she will take in an oldster when no one else will. Precious, keep riding with the wind in your hair! Ziggy's life was a difficult one from the start. He had epilepsy that we could not control. With medication and love Ziggy lived a few months with his foster Mom. Ziggy went blind from his seizures. But that didn't stop Ziggy. When the sun was warm, and the grass was new, Ziggy would run and revel in the Spring. He knew happiness before his journey to the Bridge. He is there now, waiting for his foster brothers and sisters. And his Mom, who loved him so. Ziggy, sleep peacefully. Just 6 months old, Cracker Jack, was a fluffy mix of Yorkie and Poodle. Baby Cracker Jack went to his new home happily and made fast friends with Muffin, another Yorkie boy. He was to start obedience school in two days. Someone left the gate open. Both Muffin and Cracker Jack were killed on the highway. We miss them both. Be careful with gates... Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
